# The red shopping cart: why isn't my session sellable online?

A small **red shopping cart** appears on some sessions of your schedule.

It means only one thing: **this session is not currently available for online booking**. It exists, it is structured, and it can accept registrations at the counter — but a customer cannot book it through your booking system.

It's a visual guide: it allows you to scan your schedule and see at a glance what is open for online sale and what is not.

{% hint style="info" %}
**The shopping cart says *****that***** the session is not sellable, not *****why*****.**

It appears systematically as soon as the session exits the online sale, whatever the reason: switch turned off, missing price, closed sales window, session complete… The same icon for very different causes — hence the list below.
{% endhint %}

***

## The key point to remember first

{% hint style="warning" %}
**The red shopping cart has no connection to the monitor.**

A session without assigned staff sells online normally. A session with three monitors may display a red shopping cart icon. Staff assignment and online sales are two completely independent settings in Yoplanning.
{% endhint %}

If you are looking for why a session is not going online, do not look at the monitor column: look at the **Online Sale** setting of the session, then the product setting, then the sale window and the fill.

## Possible causes

### A. The "Online Sales" setting is set to Off

#### 1. The product is not sold online

This is the most frequent cause on newly created sessions. A session inherits its product's setting: if the product is set to **Online Sale: No**, *all* sessions created from it will start with a red shopping cart icon.

**Where to check:** menu **Products** → your product → menu **⋮** → **Edit** → section **Online Sale**.

#### 2. The session was manually completed outside of the online sales process.

The setting is overridden session by session. Someone may have switched it to **No** during creation or modification — intentionally (group-reserved session, buffer session, test session) or inadvertently.

**Where to check:** click on the session in the schedule → **Edit** → **Online Sale** section.

Note: **Repeat** and **Duplication** copy this setting. A session originally closed to sale generates an entire season of closed sessions.

#### 3. No price is specified (sessions are listed as "price per session")

For sessions priced per session (typically private lessons), Yoplanning refuses to activate online sales until a price is entered: the switch remains grayed out and the message "A price is required for online sales" is displayed. The logic is simple: you can't collect payment for an amount that doesn't exist.

**Where to check:** Session → **Edit** → **Price** section. Enter the price, then activate **Online Sale**.

#### 4. The sale was closed after the first order

On products with **price per session**, the *“Close online sale after the first order”* option is very often activated — this is the expected behavior of a private course: as soon as a customer books, the session is reserved for them and removed from sale.

In this case, **the red shopping cart is normal and desirable**. There is nothing to correct.

**Where to check:** menu **Products** → your product → section **Price** → option *“Close online sale after first order”*.

#### 5. Automatic night closing (AI module) has been activated

If your team has the automatic control module, Yoplanning analyzes the following morning's sessions every evening from 8 PM **between 5 AM and 11 AM** and removes those that are still **empty** from sale. They are put back on sale **the next day at 8 AM**.

A red shopping cart that appeared on its own overnight during an empty morning session, and left by itself in the morning, is this mechanism. Nothing to correct.

### B. The session is no longer saleable in practice.

Here, the **Online Sale** setting is indeed set to Yes: this is the session status that takes it out of the sale. The shopping cart still appears.

#### 6. The sales window is closed

The product's "Close sales X hours before start" field has had its intended effect: after this time, the session is no longer offered and a red shopping cart icon appears. The same applies if the delayed opening (automatic session opening module) has not yet occurred—the session displays a shopping cart icon until the scheduled opening time.

This is the normal operation of the settings. A shopping cart appearing on all sessions a few hours before they begin is part of this mechanism, not a bug.

**Where to check:** menu **Products** → your product → **Edit** → section **Online Sale** → field *“Close sales X hours before start”*.

#### 7. The session is complete

All the spots are taken: there's nothing left to sell, the session is taking a red cart. Again, expected behavior.

**Where to check:** open the session and compare the number of participants to the maximum capacity.

## This has NO effect on the red shopping cart

The causes are often wrongly assumed. None of these situations triggers the pictogram:

| **No monitor assigned to the session** | **None.** The session remains sellable online. |
| The assigned monitor is unavailable. | None on online sales. |
| The product has no **potential staff** | Only concerns **AI scheduling** (potential sessions) — not the online sale of a session already scheduled. |
| The session is **locked** on a staff member (circled in red) | None. That's a different pictogram and a different topic. |
| The session appears **faded** | None. It's a display team filter. |
| The color of the session | None. Purely decorative. |

## Making the red shopping cart disappear: the steps to follow

1. **Is this abnormal?** A private lesson already booked, a session full, a session whose sales just closed before departure, an empty morning session closed overnight: in all these cases, the shopping cart is the expected behavior. Don't touch anything.
2. **Log in** → **Edit** → **Online Sales** section. If the switch is set to Off and the action is available, switch it to **Yes** and save.
3. **Is the switch greyed out?** A price is missing. Fill in the **Price** section of the session, then reactivate the online sale.
4. **Is the switch already set to Yes?** The problem stems from the session status, not the setting. Check, in this order: the **capacity** (is the session full?), then the **sales window** of the product ("Close sales X hours before start", delayed opening).
5. **Does the shopping cart reappear in new sessions?** The problem is with the **product**. Correct the product page (**Products → ⋮ → Edit → Online Sale**) and propagate the change to future sessions.
6. **Need to correct many sessions at once?** Go to the **session list**: filter by **Online Sale = No**, select the relevant sessions, and apply the change in bulk. 📄 [Manage the session and participant list](/en/yoplanning-academy/yoplanning-au-quotidien/gerer-les-reservations-avec-yoplanning/la-liste-de-sessions-et-de-participants-yoplanning.pro.md)

## The client cannot find the session, and there is no red shopping cart.

The shopping cart relates to the saleability of the session. Other settings, located at the **product** and distribution level, can make a session unavailable or unbookable for a given customer:

* **This product is not activated on this booking engine.** You can have multiple modules (main site, partner, tourist office): a product must be selected on each one. A customer arriving via the wrong module will not see anything. 📄 [Booking Module](/en/yoplanning-academy/yoplanning-parametrage/module-de-reservation.md)
* **The product links to an external URL** or is subject to **partner access control**, which replaces or conditions the internal booking process.
* **This product is in a private session / on demand**, and therefore does not follow the standard booking process.

If the red shopping cart is **not** present and the client still cannot find the session, it is in this list that you should look, not in the session settings.

## In summary

* The red shopping cart icon means **this session is not sellable online**. It appears for any reason.
* Two families of causes: the **Online Selling setting** is set to Off (inherited from the product, manually switched, price missing, closed after first order, automatic night closure), or the session **is no longer sellable in practice** (sales window closed, session complete).
* **The monitor has absolutely no role in this.**
* If the customer cannot find the session even though there is **no** red shopping cart, look at the booking engine, the external URL or the partner access control.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.yoplanning.support/en/yoplanning-academy/yoplanning-au-quotidien/planning-et-indisponibilites-avec-yoplanning/le-caddie-rouge-session-non-vendable-en-ligne.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
